AS A DESIGNER AT PARSONS SCHOOL OF DESIGN, I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO EXPLORE WHO I AM AS AN ARTIST AND MY BRAND. I AM SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS AND APPRECIATES QUALITY AND BEAUTIFUL DESIGNS THAT ARE MADE FOR LUXURY OR COUTURE.

FASHION TO ME IS A MEANS TO INCORPORATE ALL ASPECTS OF DESIGN AND ART INTO SOMETHING WE ALL CAN RELATE TO-THE CLOTHING WE WEAR. MY DESIGNS EXPRESS MY VIEW OF CREATING LONG-TERM SUSTAINABLE GARMENTS WITHOUT COMPROMISING DESIGN.

My designs are bold, fearless and centered towards excessive minimalism, details, functionality, beauty, edgy and sustainable garments.

This jacket and pants were inspired by my personal definition of luxury-
Luxury to me does not mean expensive, big brands, and only 5 made in the world for the 1% who can even afford it. Luxury to me is all in the craft of the product and what it is made of. I want to focus on sustainable quality fabrics while still keeping the title of a ‘luxury’ quality piece through precise and clean work. Luxury has the ability to balance excessiveness and minimalism which is similar to my personal design aesthetic. I want to find the balance within luxury- comfort, aesthetic, ‘expensive looking’, price and how to express that through my designs. Luxury is more about a feeling or experience one receives from the garment- not the actual price tag or from the fact it is Gucci but you don’t even know the designers name at Gucci. People will go out of their way to buy a knock off designer luxury brand for the name. So, is it really about the actual quality of the products or the image luxury brings with it? How do we create the feeling of luxury- that we are comfortable but fashionable, expensive, unique and an art piece.

Plastic Bag Jacket.
For the final of Sustainable Systems class we were to create a product without buying any materials. I did not have a raincoat in New York so I made myself one by using plastic bags since they are waterproof/ resistant. I melted 2-3 plastic bags together, cut them into a square and created a pattern for each pattern of the coat. I had left over felt and thread from a previous project so I used black cotton felt for the lining of the jacket. The final product reflects the grungy, dirty side of New York you get exposed to when living here. It was inspired by a coat Raf Simmons made that had a similar affect.

Smocked Torso.
This assignment was to look and explore the human body and how it contorts and transforms itself naturally. Also looking at different smocking techniques to create 3D manipulated textures this set was made to create the illusion of wider hips and a smaller waits and a full bottom skirt.

Aeroplane Shirt.
The purpose of this assignment was to take inspiration to transform a classic tailored shirt. My inspiration was from an exhibition in the fall of 2018 about Yugoslavian architecture. The exhibit features asymmetrical sci-fi grungy looking buildings with a style and feeling I had never seen before. I wanted to create a shirt that mimicked the style and feeling that those buildings gave me. The two toned colors are meant to represent the highlights and shadows of the structures. Using highly structured fabric, I manipulated planes coming from the shirt like many of the buildings characteristics in the exhibit.
